the perfect way to eat leftover Christmas panettone, using our Seville orange marmalade

INGREDIENTS:


1 loaf of brioche or leftover panettone, or any bread of your choice

50g soft butter (for spreading)

3 tablespoons of Seville Orange Marmalade

300ml milk

3 eggs

75g sugar, plus extra for sprinkling on top

1/4 teaspoon of nutmeg

METHOD


1. Pre-heat the oven to gas mark 4, 350ºF (180ºC). Lightly butter/grease a baking dish, base 7x 9 inches (18 x 23 cm) and 2 inches (5 cm) deep.

2. Start by slicing your bread of choice into 1/2 inch slices. Butter each piece of bread on one side and follow this with a generous amount of marmalade. Then arrange the slices, butter & marmalade side up into your baking dish. Leave to one side and make the custard.


3. Whisk together the milk, eggs, sugar and nutmeg until combined and pour over the bread slices. Sprinkle some extra sugar over the top and place in the oven for 30-40 minutes until golden brown and fluffy. Serve warm with pouring cream or ice cream.
